The illuminated dental or surgical mirror has a thin shaft with a guide bore. One end of the shaft (4) is weighted and has a battery chamber (5) with a closure cap. The shaft has an exchangeable coating protected mirror head (1) at an angle. A light source (21) with low heat output is aligned with respect to the mirror. A conductive wire is mounted inside the shaft bore and has a switch.
