<p>The present invention relates to an absorbent article (1) in the form of a sanitary napkin, a panty liner or an incontinence napkin, that includes a rectangular sheet (2) which is folded double and which in its folded state embraces the absorbent article, wherein the mutually facing or overlaid parts (21, 22) of the folded rectangular sheet are joined together so that the sheet will function as a protective wrapper for the absorbent article in its packaged state.
