PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sewing for treating the end part of a cup material with an especially large thickness and a press metal used for it in relation to the method for sewing the end part of the cup material and the press metal. SOLUTION: In the method for sewing for treating the end part of the cup material, the method for sewing for treating the end part of the cup material is characterized by covering the end part of the cup material with a tape material so as to pinch it therewith and sewing the and part of the cup material with the tape material by overlocking in such a way that a sewing thread catches the outer side of the tape material.
