PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing cyclopropane carboxylic acid 2,3,5,6-tetra fluorobenzyl ester compound industrially advantageous which is effective as an insecticide. SOLUTION: The invention is a method for producing ester compound having the general formula 4 obtained by reacting ester compound having the general formula 1 (wherein, R1 is methyl or C3-C4 alkyl radical: R2 is H or methyl radical; R3 is methyl or ethyl radical) with benzylalchol compound having the general formula 2 (wherein, R4 is H, halogene, C1-C3 alkyl, C2-C3 alkenyl, C1-C3 alkoxy, C1-C3 alkylthio or (C1-C3 alkoxy) methyl radical: the radicals may be subsutituted by halogene) in the presence of lithium compound of R5OLi (wherein, R5 is C1-C4 alkyl radical).
