PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic bobbin switch type winding method and a device for the same capable of automatically switching bobbins without making wire slack. SOLUTION: When an empty bobbin and a wire catcher rotate under a condition that wire wound in a bobbin in winding operation passes above the empty bobbin, a position of the wire catcher is detected with a sensor and a rotation speed of a shaft of the empty bobbin is detected with an encoder, and a wire catcher position detection signal from the sensor and shaft rotation speed of the empty bobbin are inputted in a controller of a wire holder to lay down the wire holder. The wire, thereby does not get slack and the wire catcher grasps the wire and cut it with a cutter to complete a switch of the bobbin.
