PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer enabling miniaturization of a print head unit even when the unit is equipped with a filter and also enabling efficient removal of air penetrating into an ink passage. SOLUTION: A first filter 13a incorporated in the print head unit 3 is disposed almost in parallel with the direction of movement of a carriage 3a and in the vertical direction (direction (B)) in an air trap 11. The length of the unit 3 in the direction intersecting perpendicularly the direction of movement of the carriage 3a is thereby shortened and the print head unit can be miniaturized. Bubbles produced in the ink passage are reserved in the upper portion of the air trap 11 and discharged by an ink flow occurring in suction and running over the upper part of the first filter 13a. |
