PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barrel for a plastic molding machine with which wear in the sliding face with a screw can be reduced. SOLUTION: The barrel for a plastic molding machine is constituted of high chromium cast iron having a composition containing, by weight, 2.4 to 3.2% C, 0.4 to 0.8% Si, 0.8 to 1.5% Mn, <=2.0% Ni, 16 to 20% Cr and <=3.0% Mo and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. At least the surface layer part in the inner circumference of the barrel is constituted of high chromium cast iron having the composition, so that the wear of the screw to be slid with the barrel and the wear of the barrel itself can be reduced. Preferably, the inner circumferential face of the barrel is quenched.
