PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telescopic pole less in parts items, adaptable for a small size and a lighter weight and capable of absorbing shock caused at the rising end and the falling end of a multistage pole portion 10. SOLUTION: The telescopic pole comprises a drive cord 12 inserted into the telescopic multistage pole portion 10, the drive cord 12 having a tip end connected to a tip end pole 10a of the multistage pole portion 10, and a gear driven by and connected to a motor 16 for engaging a rack 12a engraved in the drive cord 12 at the base end of the multistage pole portion 10 to elongate or shrink the multistage pole portion 10 with the drive and rotation of the motor 16, wherein first and second rubber members 20, 24 are arranged at a position of thrusting the tip end pole 10a in the elongating direction with the set-out of the drive cord 12 and at a position of thrusting the tip end pole 10a in the shrinking direction with the set-in of the drive cord 12. With the elastic deformation of the first and second rubber members 20, 24, the drive cord 12 and the tip end pole 10a can be relatively shifted in the axial direction.
