PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinder to grind an end surface of a book saving labour, increasing performance and high in safety. SOLUTION: This grinder to grind the end surface of the book constitutes its characteristic feature of being constituted of a clamp mechanism to fasten one or a plural number of the books from front and back in a state of erecting it or them, a placing base to arrange height of a lower end surface by placing the books existing below the clamp mechanism and before fastening, a moving mechanism to reciprocate the books before fastening in the lateral direction to a point separated from the placing base with the clamp mechanism and a grinding mechanism to grind the lower end surface of the book existing on the side of the placing base and moving by working on it.
