PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a tubular filter membrane module for a immersion membrane filtration system excellent in compactness and economical profitability. SOLUTION: A tubular filter membrane module is provided with a cylindrical holding container provided with a water collection pipe and an outer cylinder surrounding it; a tubular filter membrane group comprising tubular filter membranes each being in the form of a cylinder packed into its inside, held at its ends, having an inside diameter of 3-15 mm and having a filtration function in its inside, and having 0.02-0.2 mm high protrusions at several parts of the outer periphery. The water collection pipe has an exit for discharging drain out of it. The ratio of the outside diameter of the water collection pipe to the area S of a cross section being between the water collection pipe and the outer cylinder in the holding container and being perpendicular to the axial direction is 0.3-1 m-1. The module is designed so that the packing ratio represented by the equation: packing ratio = Nπd02/4S may be at least 0.8 (wherein N is the number of the tubular filter membranes contained in the group; d0 is the outside diameter of each tubular filter membrane; and S is as defined above).
