PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenylpropionic acid derivative, having strong activity and high safty, which improves hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia. SOLUTION: This phenylpropionic acid derivative is represented by the general formula (I) (wherein, X is CH or N; R1 is H, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy or a halogen atom; R2 is C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy or a halogen atom), and invilves a pharmacologically acceptable salt or ester thereof.
