PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutter apparatus which is simple in structure, and can halt falling of a shutter curtain upon detection of a collision of the shutter curtain with a passing matter. SOLUTION: The shutter apparatus includes a pressure sensor 1 which is arranged on a lower surface of the shutter curtain 11 in a manner extending along its width direction, and elastic members 2 and 2 which are disposed on both sides of the pressure sensor 1 such that their front ends protrude from a lower edge of the pressure sensor 1. Further, the shutter apparatus is comprised of a halting means 4b for halting falling of the shutter curtain 11, in response to a detection signal from the pressure sensor 1. Thus, upon collision of a passing matter with the lower surface of the shutter curtain 11, the halting means 4b immediately halts the falling of the shutter curtain.
