PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer capable of absorbing a pressure wave occurring in an ink passage consequently upon acceleration and deceleration of a carriage, by bubbles reserved in an absolute bubble reserving chamber. SOLUTION: When ink is sucked from an ink discharge port of a print head 15 by a recovering process, it passes through a portion were a first chamber 11a having a small passage resistance and a second chamber 11b communicate with each other (portion vertically above a first filter 13a where the filter is not located) and flows into the second chamber 11b. The bubbles in a bubble reservoir 11a1 are not removed, however, even by the recovering process. The pressure wave occurring in the ink passage moves along the direction of flowing of the ink and therefore collides with the bubbles reserved in the bubble reservoir 11a1. Accordingly, the pressure wave is not transmitted to the print head 15, but is absorbed by the bubbles reserved in the air trap 11. Therefore a meniscus formed in the ink discharge port is maintained and the quality of printing can be kept excellent. |
