PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalyst carrier which is excellent in photocatalytic effect and is prevented from the iris phenomenon due to light interference. SOLUTION: A TiO2 film is formed on the surface of a tile 2 by heating the tile 2 in a heating zone 3 and subjecting the surface of the tile 2 to vapor deposition of TiO2 generated by the hydrolysis of a TiCl4 vapor in a vapor deposition chamber 4. The TiCl4 vapor is generated in a TiCl4 vapor generation oven 5 and is introduced into the vapor deposition chamber 4. When the tile is held in a dark box for 24 h, the contact angle of water is 10 deg. or lower, preferably 5 deg. or lower.
