PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide decomposition treatment equipment for organic halogen compounds which is capable of suppressing the degradation in treatment ability when a large amount of the organic halogen compounds are treated. SOLUTION: The organic halogen compounds and a decomposition treating agent of the following (a) or (b) are continuously introduced into a reaction section 13 and are continuously discharged outside after making reaction by coming into contact with each other in the reaction section 13. The atmosphere temperature of the reaction section 13 is so set as to be higher in the upper part than in the lower part by external heaters 17a and 17b or an internal heater 18. The decomposition treating agent is preferably preheated by a preheater 19 and is then introduced into the reaction section 13. (a) The decomposition treating agent which contains >=50 wt.% magnesium oxide. (b) The decomposition treating agent which contains the magnesium oxide anti the calcium oxide and in which the content in total thereof is >=50 wt.% and [calcium oxide/(magnesium oxide + calcium oxide)] (molar ratio) is <=0.67.
