PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition characterized by having flame retardancy, a high refractive index and a low dispersing character. SOLUTION: The resin composition consists of a carbonate residue, a phosphonic acid residue represented by structural formula (1) and a divalent phenol residue represented by structural formula (2), and molar fractions of the phosphonic acid residue and the carbonate residue are specified by formula (3).
