PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the cleaning treatment of an aqueous liquid for a processing metal capable of removing a fine metal powder with a particle size of 5μm or less in the aqueous liquid for processing the metal used in the processing of the metal without lowering the liquid characteristics of the aqueous liquid for processing. SOLUTION: The method for the cleaning treatment of the aqueous liquid for processing the used metal by the removal of the metal powder from the aqueous liquid for processing the metal, which contains micellar cut oil containing the metal powder generated by the cutting and/or grinding treatment of the metal, includes a cleaning stage wherein replenishing oil is added to the aqueous liquid and the resulting aqueous liquid is introduced into a centrifugal separator under such a condition that a micelle-unformed oil component containing the replenishing oil is present in the liquid in an amount of 0.5 mass % or more and the superfine metal powder with a particle size of <20μm is removed along with the metal powder containing oil by a low speed centrifugal force not decomposing a micelle.
