PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously improve operability and enlarge a space of the front and lower position of a seat. SOLUTION: This adjusting device of front and back positions of a seat comprises a pair of right and left lower rails 2 mounted to a car body side, upper rails 3 mounted to a seat side corresponding to the lower rails 2, and a lock device 5 comprising a lower side engaging part 6 and an upper side engaging part 7 for fixing right and left upper rails 3, respectively. Each of right and left upper rails 3 near the upper side engaging part 7 has an operation transmitting body 10 operating to unlock the upper side engaging part 7 from the lower side engaging part 6. The right and left operation transmitting bodies 10 are interconnected through operation transmitting body connecting shafts 11 in the right and left directions interlockingly. One of the right and left operation transmitting bodies 10 is connected to an operating lever 13 disposed at a desired position through an operation transmitting member 12.
