PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adjuster for adjusting the length of a shoulder strap, etc., allowing a user to adjust the length of the strap without putting down a bag from the shoulder and to easily operate the adjuster without regard to the user's age or sex. SOLUTION: The adjuster has a strap entrance 14 with a hook 31 on the outer end for taking in/out a strap 3. A drum 2 is pivotably supported on a shaft in a casing with an engagement hole 13 of a strap book attached to the shoulder strap, and the strap 3 is wound around the outer circumference of the drum 2 in such a way that the strap 3 can be pulled out from the outside. A take-up spring for the strap 3 is eccentrically mounted inside the drum 2, and first engaging projections 21 are formed projecting from the inner wall of the drum. In addition, a push button 5 with second engaging recesses 51 formed around it is pivotally supported with elastic pressure, and the second engaging recesses 51 of the push button 5 are engaged with the first engaging projections 21 in this condition. When the push button 5 is pushed down against the elastic pressure, the engagement of the second engaging recesses 51 of the push button 5 and the first engaging projections 21 of the drum is released.
