PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for lighting a discharge lamp that may reduce the size, weight and cost of the socket. SOLUTION: In addition to a pair of output lines 4a and 4b led from a light circuit 5 to light the discharge lamp, a power supply line 10 is provided to supply a power to a starting circuit 2 of the discharge lamp. The power is supplied from the lighting circuit 5 through the power supply line 10, the auxiliary electrode 8 of the lamp socket 1, peripheral electrode 6, and the output line 4a to the starting circuit 2. |
