metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes loading into rotary kiln of slime of steel making process and roasting with use of gaseous fuel. Flux is produced by roasting of slime of steel making process with the following ratio of its components, %: Fetotal, at least 48; SiO2, 0.5-3.5; and ratio of CaO/Mg0, 1.5-6.0. It provides for optimal conditions of operation of rotary tubular kilns, production of flux with high content of iron, reduction of harmful gaseous effluents, solution of problem of utilization of zinc-containing steel-making slimes due to removal up to 70-80% of zinc during sintering.
