The crankshaft bearing has a bearing cap (5) constructed oversize so that the side walls (21) of the crankcase (3) reaching deeper over the crankshaft (2) in the fitted state of the bearing cap provide a press fit. The bearing cap has two fitting faces (15,16) on one side, with one fitting face lying closer to a symmetry line (20) symmetrically splitting the bearing than the other fitting face. A cut-out (27) is provided between the bearing cap and one side wall of the crankcase.
