Metallurgical vessel for receiving a melt has a connecting element that is able to move from an opening position to a closing position. The cross-section of the connecting channel of the element can be completely obstructed. Independent claims are also included for: a process for exchanging an induction heater of a metallurgical vessel; and a stopper (16) for closing the connecting channel between the inner chamber (9) of a metallurgical vessel and an induction channel (14) of an induction heater. Preferred Features: The connecting element is provided with a heater and/or a cooling device (17). The wall of the connecting channel is provided with a heater (23) and/or cooling device in the region of the connecting element in its closing position.
