<p>A polyester film for capacitors which is a biaxially oriented film made mainly of polyethylene-2,6-naphthalene- dicarboxylate and satisfying the relationship: -1.5% ≤ RMD(150) ≤ 0.0% wherein RMD(150) represents the rate of thermal strain of the film in machine direction (MD) at 150°C as defined based on the length of the film in MD at t°C, LMD(t), by the formula: RMD(T) = {[LMD(T) LMD(35)]/LMD(35)} x 100 (%) wherein RMD(T) is the rate of thermal strain of the film in MD at T°C. This film is excellent in insulating characteristics and is not lowered in the quality in fabricating, particularly hot pressing, thus being useful as a dielectric for capacitors.</p> |
