The method for palletising rods or tubes (4) comprises stacking them in a layer on a table (9) with their ends projecting beyond it and aligned. Supports are then fitted below the layer or a lift (2) is fitted on top with holders (3) for the individual rods or tubes. Straps (5) are then fitted around it so that the rods or tubes form a flat layer which is removed from the table. An Independent claim is included for an installation for use in the method.
