A method and apparatus for determining the permeability of a sample. The method includes providing the sample in a receptacle so as to provide a headspace between the sample and part of the receptacle, introducing a predetermined volume of a first gas into the headspace and subsequently monitoring the change in concentration of the first gas and/or a second gas in the headspace. The method and apparatus are particularly suitable for determining the permeability of a soil sample. |
