A Stirling engine, comprising a regenerator having a bobbin, a resin film wound on the outer peripheral surface of the bobbin, and a tube with a vertical slit installed on the outer periphery of the resin film, wherein one end of the resin film is fixed to the outer peripheral surface of the bobbin, the other end of the resin film is extracted from the slit to the outside and fixed to the end face of the slit or to the outer peripheral surface of the tube, the tube is pressed against the inner peripheral surface of a cylinder, and working medium flows through clearances between the layers of the resin film, whereby a medium leakage loss can be reduced, and a heat exchange efficiency in the regenerator can be increased.
