The method and system (1) uses a mobile telephone (6) for transmission of biosignals to a central point (2), provided with a number of work stations (3,4,5), upon establishing a communications link with the central point via an emergency function. An emergency signal is transmitted automatically to the central point upon initiating the emergency function, for operation of an optical and/or acoustic emergency display at each work station. An Independent claim for a mobile telephone for transmission of speech signals and biosignals, incorporating an emergency function, is also included.
