The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I) wherein U, A<1>, A<2>, A<3>, A<4>, A<5>, A<6>, A<7>, L, V, X, n and the bond ===== between the carbon atom C<a> and the carbon atom C<b> are as defined in the description and claims, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and/or pharmaceutically acceptable esters thereof. The compounds are useful for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of diseases which are associated with 2,3-oxidosqualene-lanosterol cyclase such as hyper cholesterolemia, hyperlipemia, arteriosclerosis, vascular diseases, mycoses, gallstones, tumors and/or hyperproliferative disorders, and treatment and/or prophylaxis of impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes.
