The invention relates to a method for treating aromatic residues by means of elemental sulphur, whereby the aromatic residues react with the added elemental sulphur forming H2S. The invention also relates to products of said method in the form of mineral oil based pitch having a softening point of > 150 DEG C, and a Conradson carbon residue of > 50 % in addition to a distillate containing aromatics with 1 - 3 cores, and the use thereof. The mineral oil based pitch can be used to produce graphite fibres, carbon material, additives for bitumen and carbon electrodes. The distillate can be used as an additive for fuel or in the production of n-paraffin. |
