The trenching drum, for a continuous open-pit mining extraction assembly, has a pipe (1) as the base body of the drum structure. The drives are encapsulated at both ends, so that the outer zones of the drum mantle are strengthened by the rotating drive housings (9). A linkage gives the connection between the carrier frame (16) and the fixed drive section, with a swing axis at right angles to the main load direction of the trenching drum.
