PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for preventing the loss of a mobile communication terminal is provided to search a lost terminal by automatically connecting a call, and obtaining position information from the terminal or remotely controlling the terminal. CONSTITUTION: A controller checks whether a calling message is received through a paging channel(301). If the calling message is received, the control analyzes the received calling page(303). The controller checks whether a specific flag of the calling message is set(305). If the specific flag of the calling message is set, the controller transmits a response message to the calling message to a base station(307) and connects a call(309). The controller checks a specific field of the calling message and checks whether a position information request is received(311). If the position information request is received, the controller obtains position information through a position estimator and transmits the message including position information through a channel set by the call connection(313). The controller checks whether a release message is received from the base station for releasing the channel set by the call connection(315). If the release message is received, the controller releases the connected call or channel(317). The controller checks whether the output adjustment of a speaker is requested(323). If output adjustment of the speaker is requested, the controls a calling circuit unit and maximally adjusts the output of the speaker(325).
