PURPOSE: A non-linearity measuring method in magnetic recording and reproduction, a magnetic recording/reproducing device, and a magnetic recording/reproducing LSI are provided to measure various kinds of non-linear transition shift accurately. CONSTITUTION: Data of reference bit-string pattern is sent to a magnetic disk(2) via a head IC(Integrated Circuit)(5) and a magnetic head(3) to be magnetically recorded as reference signals. A first predetermined harmonic component is measured from the reproduced signals of the record data detected by the magnetic head, and a bit-string pattern is selected from plural kinds of predetermined bit-string patterns. The data of the selected bit-string pattern is set as measured signals to the magnetic disk. A second predetermined harmonic component is measured from the reproduced signals, and the non-linear transition shift is calculated from first and second predetermined harmonic components.
