PURPOSE: To improve picture quality by controlling lateral smears generated on a display image. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display according to this invention comprises a liquid crystal panel 106 for displaying gradations according to the potential differences between a drain voltage and a common voltage, a drain driver circuit 103 for generating a drain voltage, corresponding to display data and applying it to the liquid crystal panel, a gate driver circuit 104 for selecting a scanning line in the liquid crystal panel to be applied with the drain voltage, and a power source circuit 105 for performing comparison operation between a reference common voltage, whose potential level is adjusted and a feedback common voltage which is fed back from the liquid crystal panel, and applying the common voltage obtained as a result of the comparison operation to the liquid crystal panel.
