PURPOSE: An alarm system for replacement time of an air filter in a vehicle and a method thereof are provided to cut down manufacturing expenses of the vehicle by indicating the replacement time of the air filter without a dust sensor. CONSTITUTION: An alarm system operates in applying power, and an electronic control unit detects the output of a pedal sensor to be 100%(S401). The warming-up state of an engine is decided by the electronic control unit according to output of a coolant temperature sensor(S402). The coolant temperature sensor, a vehicle speed sensor and an injector are checked in warming up the engine(S403), and the reference value of an air pressure sensor is set according to engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute)(S404). The electronic control unit subtracts the output of an atmospheric pressure sensor from the output of the pressure sensor(S405), and compares the subtracted value with the reference value(S406). A lamp is turned on in case of the difference value to be over the first reference value(S407). The expenses of the vehicle are reduced with alarming the replacement time of the air filter without a dust sensor.
