PURPOSE: An automatic socket management method for a wireless communication system is provided to allow a processor to return an assigned socket when the processor does not respond to a state confirming message. CONSTITUTION: The socket management method for a wireless communication system includes the first step of assigning sockets to processors by a call control processor(S201). In the second step, each of the processors sends a state message to one another for informing the state of them(S202). In the third step, the call control processor determines whether all the processors receive the messages(S203). In the fourth step, the call control processor changes the states of the processors according to the state messages(S204). In the fifth and sixth steps, when state messages are not received from each of processors, a message for confirming the processor state is sent to each of processors(S205,S206). In the seventh and eighth step, when a response to the confirming message is not received, a socket assigned to the processor is returned(S207,S208).
