An oil-in-water emulsion formulation, comprising a) one or more insecticides, in particular pyrethroids; b) one or more solvents from the group of esters of aliphatic monocarboxylic acids, esters of aliphatic dicaraboxylic acids, esters of aromatic monocarboxylic acids and esters of aromatic dicarboxylic acids; c) an emulsifier system comprising one or more anionic surfactants and one or more non ionic surfactants; and d) water is useful for controlling pests.p
