The seat support of, eg a wheelchair, is pivotally mounted for both tilting, by means of a retractable cylinder 26, and vertical movement, by means of a parallel motion mechanism 32 driven by retractable cylinder 38. The seat support 24 may additionally be pivotally connected to a further support (28, Fig 2) which includes individually positionable lateral supports (40,42,44,45) for various parts of the body. The pivotal connection to the seat support uses a guide and a slide clampingly received within it, each pivoted to one of the seat and further support. The seat has individual left and right parts which are backward/forward slidable, each part carrying a height adjustable footrest. A body support member (101, Fig 5) comprises an elongate flexible and resilient sheet of plastics material having a series of parallel and equidistant recesses cut into it. |
