A self-propelled bare floor cleaner 10 which has a cleaning assembly comprising a cleaning device, a frame 60 and a securing mechanism and a random motion generator 12 secured by said mechanism. The random motion generator includes a hollow spherical shell 20 which houses an unbalanced weighted motor assembly (32, Fig 3) which is rotatably mounted on a centre fixed axle 27 which extends diametrically between first and second hemispherical halves 22,24. The motor assembly comprises a motor (38, Fig 3) a housing (36, Fig 3) and a power source (40, Fig 3) such as rechargeable batteries. Further a charging stand (80, Fig 4) which comprises a cylindrical wall (82, Fig 4) and a support platform (84, Fig 4).
