The flux contains silica and/or zirconia as slag-forming materials. A welding wire with a flux core, used for welding stainless steel, comprises a stainless steel casing filled with a flux comprising 0.1-1 wt.% titanium, 0.02-0.25 wt.% metal fluoride (with respect to its fluoride content) and 9-15 wt.% slag-forming materials, with respect to the weight of the wire. The slag-forming materials comprise 5-9 wt.% titania, 0.5-2.5 wt.% alumina and 3.25-6 wt.% silica and/or zirconia, with respect to the weight of the wire. |
