CATALYST FOR CLEANING EXHAUST GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable not only CO and HC but also particulate matters such as SOF and sulfates in an exhaust gas to be efficiently removed. SOLUTION: A catalyst is used which comprises a titania powder, a zeolite powder, and an auxiliary catalyst powder consisting of heat-resistant zirconia particles and a transition metal in a layered form covering at leas part of the surfaces of the heat-resistant zirconia particles. Since the contact area between the transition metal and matters to be removed is increased, the amount of particulate matters (P.M) to be exhausted is decreased.
