PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly assist a steering in any operating state to increase a steering feeling by changing a steering assist force according to whether a driver performs a steering operation by bath hands or by one hand. SOLUTION: A plurality of pressure sensitive elements 7 are installed on a steering wheel 1 to detect whether the steering wheel 1 is in a single hand operating state or double hand operating state. A target current value set part 11 sets a target current value based on steering torque detected by a torque sensor 5, a vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed sensor 6, and an operating state detected by the pressure sensitive elements 7. Based on the target current value, an electric motor M is driven, and torque developed by the electric motor M is transmitted to a steering mechanism 3 as a steering assist force. In the single hand operating state, the target current value set part 11 sets a target current value larger than that in double hand operating state. |
