PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inspection and preservation which makes it possible to maintain a recording head using a reactive ink for recording without deteriorating its predetermined function. SOLUTION: As to a recording head using reactive ink, the recording is preserved as a recording head for preservation after performing an ejection inspection by supplying ink for inspection not containing reactive component into a liquid flow path of the recording head and replacing the ink for inspection in the liquid flow path of the recording head by a colorant and the ink for preservation not containing reactive component after the ejection inspection.
