PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transplantable ball socket shaped artificial joint having an improved constraint socket for substituting a cotyloid joint. SOLUTION: This ball socket shaped artificial joint comprises a ball connected to an element having a structure adequate to be mounted to a joint ball, an opening for receiving a substantially spherical cavity part and the ball, and a socket having the structure adequate to be mounted to a bone structure. The cavity part includes a main joint region contacting with the ball. The socket includes at least one cutting part 76 that extends from the schematic opening toward the main joint region but not to the main joint region. A part of the cutting part 76 near the opening of the socket can bend outwardly to allow the ball to be arranged in an abutting relation with the main joint region beyond the opening.
