PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction roll having a structure capable of surely and uniformly sucking a web and having little suction air volume. SOLUTION: Air passages are axially provided inside a roll body 12, the air passage are disposed at prescribed intervals on the whole circumference, multiple suction holes 18 penetrate through the air passages 16 and the outer circumferential surface of the roll body 12, one end part of the air passage 16 is opened in one side part of the roll body 12, a suction block 42 is allowed to abut can the one side part, and the air is sucked from one end part of the air passage 16 opened abutting on the suction block 48.
