PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure preventing skew and jam of a paper, sheet to be fed while being pushed against a paper feeding roller by adjusting the position of a bottom board in its being pushed in and pulled out in an inexpensive paper feeder vertically moving the bottom board for mounting the paper sheet by pushing-in/pulling-out of the paper feeding tray. SOLUTION: This paper feeder vertically moves the bottom board 4 for mounting the paper sheet by turning a turning arm 18 by an elastic force of a pressure spring 17 and turning a raising arm 6 of a rotary shaft 5 in the normal/reverse direction. This paper feeder is provided with a release plate 21 having an arc surface fitted to the tip of the turning arm 18, a turning member 22 pushing the release plate 21 by being pushed down by a lever 12 lowered by the holding of a handle 11 and released therefrom by a slope face of a projection part 22b so as to turn the turning arm 18, and a retaining member 24 pushing the release plate 21 by linking with the pulling-out/pushing-in of the paper feeding tray so as to release the pushing of the paper sheet on the bottom board 4 from the paper feeding roller.
