PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent impurities such as oligomers from adhering to the inner wall of a treating tank and to an article to be dyed, thus remarkably improving a washing effect. SOLUTION: The washing device in the dyeing machine comprises a treating tank 2 for receiving an article l to be dyed, dyeing the article 1 with a dyeing liquid at a high temperature under a high pressure and then washing the dyed article 1 with a washing liquid Y, and a heat exchanger 12 for subjecting the waste dyeing liquid X recovered from the treating tank 2 and the washing liquid to be supplied to the treating tank 2 to a heat exchange treatment. The device is characterized by disposing a high pressure storage tank 13 for storing the high temperature washing liquid Y produced by the heat exchange with the whole high temperature waste dyeing liquid X recovered from the treating tank 2, in a washing liquid supply path 14 between the treating tank 2 and the heat exchanger 12. Thus, after the article 1 is dyed, the whole high temperature waste dyeing liquid X is recovered from the treating tank 2. The recovered high temperature waste dyeing liquid X and the washing liquid Y are subjected to the heat exchange treatment, and the produced high temperature washing liquid Y is once stored in the high pressure storage tank 13 and then supplied to the treating tank 2.
