METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR UTILIZING GAS DISCHARGED FROM MELTING REDUCTION FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an economy of a melting reduction system by producing methanol from a gas discharged from a melting reduction furnace without eliminating carbon monoxide and supplying hydrogen from another production equipment. SOLUTION: The synthesis of methanol comprises (1) adding steam to the gas generated from the melting reduction furnace, (2) causing a shift reaction by keeping a temperature so as to bring a quantitive ratio of hydrogen to carbon monoxide in the gas close to the ratio 2:1, (3) eliminating moisture and carbon monoxide, and (4) reacting carbon monoxide with hydrogen.
