PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for producing a nano-scale metal oxide (an inorganic structure) and a raw material therefor, an organic-inorganic composite, by using an organic low molecular gel as a template. SOLUTION: After the gel of a glycopyranoside is formed in a mixture solution obtained from the glycopyranoside to which a benzylidene is bonded at 4- and 6-positions and to which an aminophenyl group or a pyridyl group is bonded at 1-position, and a sol-gel reaction solution containing the precursor of the metal oxide, the organic-inorganic composite stuck with the metal oxide on the surface of the glycopyranoside is obtained by proceeding the polymerization of the metal oxide retaining a gel formed system, and furthermore a metal oxide (for example, silica) structure is obtained by removing the glicopyranoside from this organic-inorganic composite. The metal oxide structure of a hollow spherical, a Lotus root or a cylindrical shape is obtained depending on the type of saccharides constituting the glycopyranoside.
