<p>The invention concerns a method for making a catalyst for hydrocyanation of an ethylenically unsaturated organic compound. More particularly it concerns a method for making a hydrocyanation catalyst comprising in particular nickel and a water-soluble phosphine. The method for making a catalyst for hydrocyanation of an organic compound consisting of an aqueous solution of at least a water-soluble phosphine and nickel, consists in: contacting an aqueous solution of a water-soluble phosphine and a nickel hydroxide; adding in the medium hydrogen cyanide or a compound generating hydrogen cyanide and in maintaining the medium under agitation until the nickel is dissolved; then in subjecting the medium to reduction to transform at least partly the dissolved nickel with an oxidation number of zero. The catalyst is useful in organic reactions catalysed by a two-phase system, such as hydrocyanation of unsaturated organic compounds.</p> |
